Turkish Prime Ministry-Presidency for Turks Abroad and Related Communities is offering Turkish Language Education Scholarship for government employees and the academics.

Government employees of countries who host Turkish diplomatic missions or countries who have accredited to Turkish missions and academics/researchers may qualify for the scholarship.

Government employees do not have to be involved in an academic research.

Only one person from each country will be selected by the Turkish diplomatic missions for the scholarship program.

Required qualifications:

-To be a citizen of a country who hosts or is accredited to a Turkish diplomatic mission

-For government employees – to be employed by a government institution at least for three years and preferably to have a master’s or doctoral degree

-For academics – to be working for a university and to have completed a doctoral degree or be enrolled at a doctorate program

-For academics – to be working on topics related to Turkey or social sciences

-To be under the age of 40 at the first day of the scholarship year

-To not benefit from any other Türkiye Scholarship funds

-To have a recommendation letter from the affiliated institution (This letter should include the details about the time-off procedures (paid or unpaid) over the course of the program)

The details of the program are as follows:

-Scholarship program will offer an opportunity to learn Turkish for government employees without a condition of being involved in a research program.

-Only one qualified candidate from each country will be offered the scholarship

-The scholarship will be offered for 8 – 10 months.

-Scholarship will cover the cost of the Turkish language program, housing costs and will also include monthly payment in addition to the roundtrip ticket to Turkey.

-The monthly payment in the 2014 scholarship year will be 1,500 Turkish Liras. (around $750)

-Turkish language program will take place in Istanbul, Ankara and/or İzmir.

-The scholarship year is planned to begin on October 15, 2014.

The applications and the required documents will be sent in advance to turkcebursu@turkiyeburslari.gov.tr asa soft copy and must be mailed to Turkey until 31 August, 2014 at the latest.
